Sábados são para Osmeninos
Opa todos,
In the last two weeks we found some really great people and unfortunately had to stop teaching some other great people. But that's just how it goes. Here are some highlights:
Our branch president introduced us to this family that they're friends with a couple weeks ago and this week they had a family home evening with them and invited us to teach a lesson. And let me tell you bruh that lesson was fire. We had some of the members speak about their baptisms and the spirit was palpable. Everybody felt it and many tears were shed. Then the next day at sacrament everybody bore testimony about how strong they felt the spirit. Super dope. The family didn't accept our invitation to be baptized but they're super close with a bunch of members and they're gonna be baptized I'm sure.
We had a really good lesson with two of investigators, Walace and Vita, this week where they asked a bunch of questions which was so great! So many people just agree with what we say and do nothing to find out for themselves if it's true. During the lesson, Vita said that when she went to church she felt something different, something that she hadn't felt before and that she knew it was the holy ghost. And we were like yes! That's him telling you that the church is true!
Funny Brazil stuff:
Here in Southern Minas everybody calls us missionaries meninos which is boys. When we knock on the door and somebody other than our investigator answers, they will usually turn around and yell something like "Os meninos estão aqui" (the boys are here). But what I failed to notice until my comp pointed it out to me this week is that they don't call us os meninos (The boys) they call us Osmeninos like it's one word. So we are TheBoys. Pretty sick.
The standard meal here is rice and beans with some kind of meat but there are 3 other pretty common "special" meals: strogonoff, feijoada, and lasanha. This Sunday we had lasanha which is always incredible. It's funny cause they eat lasagna on a bed of rice which is carb overload but it keeps me full the whole day so it's great.
I realized that I haven't had much of a spiritual thought in my past couple emails and I don't have time this week but be prepared cause next week will be fire. Or maybe not idk.
Pictures:
1) a pic my comp took. The prettiest thing imaginable to a Brasileiro, a sunset over a Campo de futebol
2) Big Burgão. Legendary burger place. Nuff said.
3) me in front of some of the work of the Banksy of três pontas.
