6 Months! New Bridge!
What's good y'all
The last two weeks have been pretty good! The transfer to my new area was a bit longer than expected because my new comp accidentally left the keys to our apartment with his old comp. Lots of stuff happened and there wasn't an easy solution to this problem so, to make a long story short, we didn't get into our apartment until Saturday. And I used the same white shirt from Monday-Saturday. It was an interesting week for sure.
But this last week was full of a lot of hard work! When I got here we weren't teaching any progressing people, so we got to work and found 23 new people who have an interest in meeting with us and strengthing their relationship with Christ!
My new area is called Ponte Nova which means New Bridge. But all the bridges here are pretty old so I'm not sure where the name comes from haha. But I like this city a lot cause there's a river running through the center that has a ton of capibaras! They're super funny looking so I always get excited when I see one.
One thing that I don't love about this areas are THE HILLS. Bruh I'm out here mountain climbing in a white shirt and a tie everyday. I'm straight up dripping in sweat everyday but it's great cause the views from the top are pretty.
In a couple days I hit 6 months as a missionary! It's a little sad cause I finally feel like I know the basics of missionary work and I'm already a quarter done. But luckily my Portuguese has improved a ton and I no longer feel like my teaching abilities are significantly limited by the language. I'm sure that there's a lot of stuff that I say that doesn't make sense but I finally feel like Portuguese isn't my greatest concern haha.
Some things I've learned from 6 months as a missionary:
-The amount of miracles that we see in are lives are proportional with our efforts to see them.
-The secret to powerful scripture study is to have a pen in hand! Show God that you're willing to act on and remember what he tells you.
-Sacrament meeting is a much more spiritual experience when we make it the highlight of our week.
Some other random, less spiritual things I've learned:
-Never take your parents for granted (That's for you mom ;) )
-Brazilian pizza is way better than pizza in the US.
-Phones are incredibly addicting (and can inhibit us from having spiritual experiences).
-There is no substitute for hard work.
Love you guys!
