Last week January 16th

Hello Everybody!

This one will be short because I’m lazy, haha!

Two weeks ago was zone conference!  Once again it was great to see friends and old comps and get inspired to keep working!

We had transfers and I'm still here in the same area with my comp.  This will be my fourth transfer here and I won’t lie it was a little hard to accept that I’ll still be here because it’s a hard area.  We are completely separated from the rest of the mission and there’s only one other companionship in our district that lives an hour and a half away.

But the area is progressing really well!  We’ve really been focusing on inviting people like the Savior and it’s been incredible!  We have 5 people on date to be baptized!  One of which is for this week!  Her name is Renata and she is so awesome.  She is just really shy so everyone please pray for her that she can feel welcome by the members here and be baptized this Saturday!

So far, I haven’t had a problem with eating rice and beans everyday.  I still love it and if I don’t have rice and beans I’m just not full so that’ll be hard to adjust to after the mission. But there’s one restaurant that we go to with members all the time. Every time it’s the exact same rice and beans so I was desperate to eat something else.  So we went to this little restaurant called Iraque’s Lanches and it was this dude from Iraq who made us some traditional Brazilian food which is just like a stew of chicken and okra.  It wasn’t very good but I prefer it a million times over those rice and beans haha.

Here’s a scripture I found in my study this week.  It’s from the Old Testament so it’s a little different but it’s a banger.

Micah 6:6-8:  "Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

I love this scripture because God doesn’t ask for us to make these giant sacrifices to Him.  But when He does, it has nothing to do with the sacrifice itself, its our faith and obedience that he wants.  The only sacrifice He requires is that of a broken heart and contrite spirit.  He just wants us to do good and obey Him because He knows what’s best for us!

Love you guys!  Stay Humble!

P.S.  We took down our Christmas tree and I decorated the wall with the lights.  I truly have inherited my Mom’s decorating skills.

From this week January 23rd:

This week we had the incredible opportunity to baptize Renata! She really is one of the nicest and most prepared people I have met here on the mission. Her baptism really was special because we got a bunch of support from the members and had some of our friends come and they loved it so hopefully will be baptized too!

In other news my comp saved a cat this week and we befriended a dog who followed us around the whole city. I also fed a baby bird the other week. I also ate a capibara (jk with that one that's actually a crime here)

Things are going super well here (better than they ever have in my mission) and it makes me feel so dumb that I was disappointed when I found out I was gonna stay here for this transfer. God really does have plans for us sometimes they are hard to see or sometimes they are easy to see and we just don't want accept it (that was my case) but what's important is that he's got a plan and it will always work out for our good.

Love you guys! Keep it real and fica firme
