I'm Going to the River!
Olá friends and family, tudo bem?
The last couple weeks have been pretty hectic but absolutely full of miracles!
Just a little over 2 weeks ago Elder Helm and I were hyped up because we had a bunch of people progressing towards baptism. But then suddenly everybody dropped us and I'll be real I got really bummed out. It felt like everything was going so well and then out of nowhere I was back at square 1 after already being in the area for 6 months. That week we knocked a ton of doors and only like 5 people let us in (this is really uncommon for Brazil haha). I knew that I would be leaving that area in a little bit and I wanted to leave it with a lot of progressing people but I just didn’t understand why nothing was going right for us. We prayed a ton to understand what we needed to do and then during that week Elder Helm got emergency transferred ( just one week before the normal transfer) and I got my new comp Elder Ramos.
So for the last week we've been running around trying to introduce Elder Ramos to all of our friends, recent converts, and less actives so that he can keep working with them.
In the midst of all this we managed to have a baptism! One of the ward members (and our good friend) Lucas introduced us to his friend Rayane. We had talked to Rayane before but she hadn't shown much interest. But after a while (and a lot of help from Lucas) she accepted to hear our message, went to church and got baptized!
In fact the whole mission has been working super hard and we reached 68 baptisms this February! That's the most this mission has had in 5 years!
The mission had 30 people on date to be baptized this last weekend and we had a mission wide fast for them and the Lord clutched up! We had 33 baptisms this last weekend including Rayane, who was on date for the following weekend but decided she didn't want to wait any longer!
We got transfer news! I'm going to Rio! (Not the city Rio de Janeiro because that's a different mission but the state) I'm going to a city called Petrópolis. It looks super pretty and I'm wayyy excited to go to a bigger city and be closer to other missionaries. I'll be with Elder Costa. I don't really know him but he seems like a cool guy and he's already been in the area for a minute so we'll be ready to hit the ground running this transfer.
I love you guys!
Feel free to send me and email!
Sorry that I haven't responded to anybody recently! This is my 3rd p day in a row that I'm traveling :(
Tchau!
Lots of Pics!
