All worth it
Happy late Fathers day to all the dads out there! Shout-out to my dad for being the best dad ever and an incredibly great example for me of a hard worker, spiritual leader, and being incredibly funny all at the same time. Love you
Sorry but reflecting on the last two weeks I really can't think of much fun stuff that has happened. We've really just been out here working até o pó and the weeks have just flown by.
Last P day me and another American missionary went to fly kites (a common Brazilian activity) but we didn't know where to get kites. We asked some guys on the street where we could get some and he gave us some less than clear directions to a guy who lives on top of a hill by a bakery, who sometimes sells kites. This lady he was with was doubting on us, telling him it was way too far and we'd get lost. Well guess what, we got the kites, baby. We passed them on the street again and that woman was flabbergasted. We then invited them to church so that was dub.
Since we've gotten to this area we've been teaching this woman named Rosemeri. Her dad and her son are both active members but she's never really been interested in the church and they've got an interesting family dynamic so she's always been a bit pushed away. But we've been teaching her for a little bit and inviting her to read some chapters of the book of Mormon and some general conference talks and they helped her a ton with some of her anxiety. We invited her for baptism but she never really had the desire until this past week we had a super spiritual lesson about eternal families. We talked about how her son Rodrigo has a special light about him because of his standards and the companionship of the Holy Ghost. Definitely one of my favorite lessons on the mission and she committed to being baptized on Rodrigo's 16th birthday which was this past Saturday! She had to give up smoking so we took her cigarettes from her (picture down below ;) ) but she's holding firm and her baptism was super special because her son baptized her!
The mission really is the opportunity of a lifetime. I'm so thankful for the chance I get to get to know all these people and participate in a moment so crucial to their lives. I've really gotten to know my savior better and see his hand more in my life. But besides from all the spiritual benefits, I have learned to be a much harder worker and relate better to other people which I know will help me so much in the future! It's tough but it's ALL worth it!
